Why it helps to start with a designer.
Most kitchens are chosen from a range and fitted to the home. The starting point is the cabinetry, and the layout follows the product. It often looks right on the day and works less well a year in, once you are living in it.
A designed kitchen works the other way. It begins with your home, the light, the way one space leads to the next, and how your household actually cooks and gathers. The kitchen is drawn to that, so the layout, the storage and the flow are resolved before anything is built.
That is what protects the larger spend. The right decisions made once, one person holding the detail from the first conversation to the final measurement, and far less risk of an expensive change or a compromise you notice every day.
A different starting point.
I did not come to kitchen design from a showroom. I came to it from a professional kitchen. Years as a chef taught me how a kitchen has to work under real use: where you stand, how you move, what quietly slows a space down. That understanding sits underneath every layout I draw.
Alongside it, a background in construction and a real interest in how people live day to day means the design is buildable and made for your household, not a template. I am CKDNZ qualified, the studio is deliberately small, and I stay with your project from the first conversation to the final measurement. One person holding the detail, so nothing is lost along the way.
